All travel insurance providers have to offer a 14 day cooling off period. This gives you time to read through the policy wording carefully to check whether it provides the cover you need. If you decide that the policy is not right for you, you will be able to obtain a full refund if applied for within this period.

Medical Screening

If you have a pre-existing medical condition you need to declare that medical condition and answer the medical screening questions so that the insurance providers can assess the severity of your medical condition and provide you with appropriate cover. If you don’t declare a pre-existing medical condition when you buy travel insurance, you could find that you are not covered if you need to make a claim that is related to that medical condition.
When you buy travel insurance, a pre-existing condition usually means any medical condition for which medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment has been recommended or received.

When you obtain a travel insurance quote, you will be asked to answer the following questions which are designed to indicate whether you have a medical condition that needs to be declared to us.

Has anyone travelling ever had treatment for:

a) Any heart or circulatory condition?
b) Any type of diabetes?
c) A stroke or high blood pressure?
d) Any type of cancer, whether in remission or not?
e) A breathing condition?

In the last 5 years, has anyone travelling been treated for a serious or recurring medical condition, been prescribed medication or received treatment or attended a medical practitioner’s surgery?

In the last 5 years, has anyone travelling been referred to a specialist or a consultant at a hospital or clinic for tests, diagnosis or treatments or attended as an in or out patient

Has anyone travelling been diagnosed or treated for any form of anxiety, depression or psychiatric condition including eating disorders?

Has anyone been placed on a waiting list currently for investigations or treatment?

Has anyone been diagnosed by a medical practitioner as suffering from a terminal illness?

No, you won’t need to provide us or the travel insurance provider with a doctor’s certificate. Our medical screening questions will assess the severity of your medical condition, you just need to tell us the name of the medical condition and answer the questions honestly.
Yes, we don’t need to know the names of your medications, only the names of your medical conditions. Although you may be asked how many medications you take for a particular medical condition.
In order to screen your medical conditions and provide an accurate travel insurance quote, we will need to know the name of the medical condition you have been diagnosed with. If you are unsure, you should check with your doctor.
